The carborundum disc that mounts on a portable angle grinder and works the stone where the machine cannot reach: two thicknesses, 4 and 7 mm, grit sizes C16 to C400. Made in Luni, Italy.
The semi-flexible disc is the wheel for hand work: roughing an edge, levelling a joint, taking down the excess on a piece already installed, going over a corner where the edge polisher cannot get in. It mounts on the angle grinder without a backing pad and works marble, stone and granite, wet and dry.
It is semi-flexible because the backing flexes slightly under pressure: it follows the piece instead of digging into it, and on surfaces that are not perfectly flat it leaves an even pass. The grain is silicon carbide, carborundum, held by a resinoid bond: it cuts stone without loading.

Same diameter, same bore, two thicknesses. The job makes the difference.
| Size | Thickness | When to use it |
|---|---|---|
| 180x4x22 | 4 mm | carborundum semi-flexible disc for portable angle grinders, for coarse grinding and honing of marble, stone and granite; the thinner disc, which flexes more and follows uneven surfaces better |
| 180x7x22 | 7 mm | same use, with more body: it holds up better under pressure, for roughing where a lot of stock is removed |
How to read it: 180 is the diameter in millimetres, 4 or 7 the thickness, 22 the bore.

Marble, stone, granite, porcelain stoneware: the semi-flexible disc works all four. Dry, it is convenient on site and on the installed piece; wet, the water cools the disc, keeps the dust down and extends the life of the grain. Either way the pressure comes from the hand: the disc flexes and spreads the contact, so there is no need to push.
A rigid disc keeps its shape and works flat: fine on surfaces that are already flat, but in hollows it digs in. The semi-flexible disc flexes under pressure and follows the piece: the pass stays even on an uneven edge or on an installed piece, and the risk of leaving disc marks drops.

The letter C stands for silicon carbide, the number is the grit size: the lower, the coarser the grain, the more stock removed per pass. We make semi-flexible discs in grit sizes from C16 to C400: coarse for roughing, fine for honing and leaving the surface ready for polishing. The hardness we set on the material: if you always work the same granite, tell us, and we give you the disc that lasts longest on it.
If your machine has a different diameter or bore, we make the disc to size: see custom wheels made to drawing.
The two thicknesses in the catalogue cover most angle-grinder work. For everything else, diameter, bore, thickness or an intermediate grit, send us the size or a sample of the disc you use today.
